Music for a Dying Star
A music project born out of ALMA Music Box
The ALMA Music Box exhibition’s success prompted the production of the crowd-funded compilation CD “Music for a Dying Star”.
11 international artists, including Taeji Sawai, Takagi Masakatsu, Throwing a Spoon, and Christian Fennesz composed music using the 70 unique musical loops that was derived from the music box. We also collaborated with the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra to perform the album live at the Kyoto Okazaki Loop Festival in front of 2000 audiences.
We took part in the artist curation, all design work for the album, and created a website in which users can “travel” through space and listen to the album samples.
CD
I designed the album's artwork, logo, and booklet for "Music for a Dying Star." The package features luminescent paint that makes the stars visible in the dark, enhancing the project's conceptual aesthetics.

Website
I designed and developed a website that uses WebGL to create a space journey experience. Users can scroll through drifting discs in the space and listen to sample musics from the album by clicking on them. The project received "The FWA of the Day".

Concert
The concert was held in Kyoto and the artists who participated in the album are all gathered and performed. As the director of the graphic production for the stage, I worked closely with the team to ensure that the visuals reflected the project's artistic vision, creating a captivating atmosphere for the audience.
